What are Head Lice?

Head Lice Removal Techniques that Work

As well as looking for a treatment for the infestation that deals with the insects and nits you also need to treat beyond the main source of the problem, namely the affected environment of your home. Your home will also need treatment, to ensure another infestation doesn t occur.

Use a Head lice comb This special comb is an essential infestation removal tool, and you can use it alongside any other treatments. Use the comb after washing the hair, and divide the hair into one inch sections as you work. Clean the comb in warm water or white vinegar after each stroke through the hair. This is a time consuming process, but an extremely effective technique and quite worthwhile to ensure no reoccurrences.

Use Heat Although the insects have very little chances of survival once separated from their host, an infestation can reoccur if you only treat the hair and scalp, and not your home too. The answer is to wash and/or tumble dry all bedding. The insects can t withstand certain hot temperatures. Ensure you apply hot heats to bedding for at least 20 minutes.

Vacuum your home Make sure you thoroughly vacuum your home, including mattresses. Vacuum your car, and concentrate on any areas where you know the head had made contact with your furniture, especially your upholstered furniture.

It s understandable that at first you may be upset and frustrated that your family has a problem with a parasite and that you will now have to work to get rid of the problem; however, with a practiced routine, the right techniques, and the appropriate products you can quickly eradicate the problem from your home.
