Mini is an automotive brand owned by the BMW Group. The first Mini cars for sale appeared on the market in 1959 and have been very popular from the beginning. What is interesting, the Mini was chosen as the second most influential car of the 20th Century, overtaken only by the Ford Model T. The vehicles were originally produced by British Motor Corporation. They were sold under the brands of Morris and Austin and the name “Mini” was first used in 1961. The small car was introduced in response to fuel shortage of that time – there was a market for small, light and efficient cars.

Apart from a standard type, there were also some special versions sold: an estate car, a pickup truck, a van and the Mini Moke—a jeep-like buggy. A sport version was also introduced, as a result of cooperation with Cooper Car Company. There were also many special limited-production editions of the Mini offered, what makes the car even more interesting for car collectors, as they contributed to the car’s image of a fashionable icon.

Currently, there are four body variants of Mini cars for sale available: Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman (estate) and Countryman (crossover). The car was redesigned after the BMW takeover, and the new Mini appeared in 2001.

The Countryman is the first crossover SUV in Mini history. It was first presented in January 2010 and is sold as a 2011 model. It has five doors, offers an optional all-wheel-drive powertrain, and has longer wheelbase and more interior room than the Clubman.

BMW has also introduced the electric version called Mini E. The car is not yet widely available, but the field tests are in progress. For example, Mini E is available through leasing to private users in Los Angeles and the New York/New Jersey area as well as in the UK.
